On the Occasion (part 22)

My marathon continues this evening at 6:45 PM PST with Revenge of the Cybermen (episodic version.) This is, for reasons unknown to me, a fairly disliked story. It is the beginning of the end of the Cybermen (from this point on, say the word gold and they flee like little children) and there’s nothing we can do about it. It took six years for their return (it would be another seven before they would return again) and this time they’re out to blow-up the famous planet of gold – Voga. The Doctor and crew arrive to rendezvous with the TARDIS, and it makes me think that the Time Lords probably knew about this as well!! It’s not a perfect story, but it’s a fun one. The costumes and the effects aren’t half bad either. 3/5.

Now I’m skipping Terror of the Zygons, as I have recently viewed it. An excellent story involving shape-shifting aliens in Scotland, and a large reptile that lives in a loch… The only cringe-worthy moment is the Skarasen monster at the end; the rest makes for a very good cap to an incredible debut series for Tom Baker as the Doctor. 4/5.

That is all for this evening, more (possibly) tomorrow…
