Well, not surprisingly, Dexter is having electrical problems.  Not terribly unusual, considering Lucas Electrics is widely known as The Prince of Darkness.

Dexter's broken windscreenSome bastard tossed a rock at Dexter's windscreen, while he was just sitting in his little parking spot at home.  He was doing no harm to anyone, minding his own business, when some malicious youth (well, who else would do such a thing) tossed a rock and made a frosty looking mess of the windscreen.Dester's fractured windscreen

As a long time fan of The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, my mind keeps channelling Major James Anderson (expelled) when he was chasing off some thugs: "Peace and love, you bastards! Peace and love!!!"  I had stonger words when I first noticed this...

Oddly, this is not the first time I've had a car vandalized.  I used to own a Renault 5 (aka, the Le Car) that had it's antenna snapped, back left window bashed in, and the vynly sun roof stolen - not to mention the number plate was stolen.  Unfortunately, this was pre-internet and finding parts was a pain.  Luckily, in these more connected times, I can find the parts easily - but it's still a pain in the [insert your favorite body part].

Well it's been a while since I've put down some words about Dexter, the right handed Mini. In fact it's been well over a year, and I know that there's been a few things that have happened to my little car...

It happend on May 13th: I got Dexter back!!!

Dexter - Small Car It's been over a month since I last wrote about Dexter, the right-handed Mini. For those of you not in the know, Dexter is a 1971 Austin Mini 1000 (with the heart of an 850.) Dexter came to me in May of 2005 form the UK, by way of Burbank, California. As you would expect (and can see from the picture to the left) he is a small car. Smaller than the new MINIs that are produced by BMW, and smaller than the Nash Metropolitan (YIKES!) He has become my pride and joy (not having any kids myself...) and is loved by all...

Dexter has been through quite a bit since my last entry in July.

Quite of bit of time, in fact! Dexter has had a lot going on, so let me fill you in on some of the highlights.

Dexs_First_Bath.jpg Dexter had his first bath yesterday. I was going to go to the DIY wash place, but these lovely young ladies wanted to wash him for me (everyone just loves Dexter...)

Dexter is back on the road, after a brief battle with the ignition system. I thought I was being clever and inspecting the condition of Dexter's ignition wires, but one of them was so corroded that the contacts remained in the distributor cap. This happened Sunday morning. Parts ordered Monday morning, fixed Tuesday evening.

Here are a couple of recent pictures of Dexter.
